Games I've Worked On
Here are some samples of my work.
Two of these projects were originially written for DOS as projects for a Game
Programming course at the University of Michigan. In fact, Bounce
won first prize in our class contest Fall Semester 1996. It is co-authored
by Eric Worthing. Frogger
'96 was my individual project.
I later wrote Space Rox as my first Windows (DirectX)
game. I have subsequently ported Frogger and Bounce
to Windows by using the re-usable graphics, sound, music, and input libraries
I wrote for Rox.
To gain experience with Game Boy Advance development, I wrote GunKid for the GBA. It was later selected as a winner of
the GBAdev.org 2004mbit Development Competition and published on an unlicensed
cartridge.
At Backbone Entertainment, I developed the mini-games for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for GBA, and I specialized
in artificial intelligence and general gameplay systems on MechAssault: Phantom War for Nintendo DS and worked
on gameplay, user interface, and boss A.I. on Gauntlet for Nintendo DS.
At Flagship Studios, I specialized in user interface programming, as well as doing some general gameplay work, on
Hellgate: London and Mythos. I implemented client-side multiplayer features
for both of these titles, including friend lists, guild interface, and auction house. I also made improvements to the
chat system.

 Fantasy MMORPG |
Mythos is an action heavy Massively Multiplayer Online
Role Playing Game (MMORPG) from the makers of Fate and Diablo. Set in the world of Uld, players assume
the role of fantasy heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest through entirely randomized dungeons and
environments. Mythos allows thousands of players to interact within the same world while using "instanced"
dungeons to create unique gaming experiences suited for both solo and group-minded players. Whether
adventuring together or braving the dangers of the world of Uld alone, friendships are formed and
alliances are forged. The competition for knowledge, power and glory is on. And every time in will be a
new experience. |

From Flagship Studios – creators of the award-winning
Diablo® series and the fathers of the action role playing genre – comes Hellgate: London, the next
benchmark in the evolution of the RPG genre. Combining the depth of traditional RPGs with the frenetic,
visceral feel of first-person shooters, Hellgate: London offers infinite replayability with dynamically
created levels, monsters, items and events that gives each player their own unique hack-and-slash
experience. A post-apocalyptic London has been overrun by hordes of terrifying demons, leaving the city
desolate and scorched by hellfire. Those who were unlucky enough to survive now gather in the only
sanctuary left, the Underground, banding together in order to gain a foothold against the minions of
darkness and ultimately save the bloodline of humanity. It is no surprise that these sole survivors
come from three of society’s most elite factions, each of whom are masters of a robust number of skills
and weapons essential to demon-thrashing. |

 Overhead 3D Dungeon Crawler |
Gauntlet for the Nintendo DS is a feature rich game that
stays true to the retro gameplay of the original arcade coin-op while boasting an updated look,
additional attacks and powers, and a new Experience-based combat system. Players will encounter
punishing onslaughts of 32 different enemy types, including a cadre of completely original monsters
as well as fan favorites such as Skeletons, Thief and even Death. Scattered throughout the maps
players acquire amazing pickups to assist on their journey – from Bait that attracts nearby monsters
to the Glacier Freeze potion that temporarily freezes the hordes of enemies around them. With local
and Wi-Fi support for four-player cooperative play, as well as three competitive multiplayer modes,
Gauntlet on the Nintendo DS is a revitalized tribute to an all time classic game. |

The year is 3134 and after 60 years of peace and prosperity,
the Republic of the Sphere is now living in a dark age of ex-communication. Nearly all Hyperpulse Generators
(HPGs), the pinnacles of interstellar communication, have been struck by a virus leaving worlds cut off from
all information. With involuntary blinders on, no one in the Republic knows when, or where, the next attack
could be coming from. Their only hope is to turn the HPG into an instrument of war. |
