Welcome to Mike King Games

Who is Mike King?

In case you're wondering, I'm the one on the *right*. First and foremost, I am a gamer. I've been playing video games since I was a kid. I grew up with an Atari 2600 at home and Pac-Man in the arcades, and I have been gaming ever since.

Second only to my passion for video games is my passion for programming. Since my first experience with a Texas Instruments TI-99 computer in the 80s, I knew that programming was what I wanted to do for a living. And more specifically, I wanted to program video games.

Since those days I have grown up a bit, and taken steps toward a career in video game development. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). In all, I've been programming for over 20 years, and 15 years with C++.

Also, I have developed a number of personal game projects (see my games page) and headed up the development of a comprehensive database of every PC, console, and arcade game ever made. Check out www.allgame.com.

As an Engineer for Backbone Entertainment in Emeryville, California. I developed the unlockable mini-games for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Game Boy Advance, and worked on AI and gameplay systems for MechAssault: Phantom War for and Gauntlet for Nintendo DS.

More recently, I have been working as a Game Programmer at Flagship Studios, where I specialize in user interface programming as well as general gameplay on Hellgate: London and Mythos.
